Retro go for world class in our productions, therefore, we need a world class theatre. We are lucky to have on our door step the Coliseum Theatre found in the heart of Aberdare. The Theatre is at the heart of Musical Theatre in South Wales. The unitary authority Rhondda Cynon Taf now owns and funds the Coliseum Theatre.
In 1926 the Trecynon Welfare Committee purchased the site where The Coliseum Theatre now stands with the intention of creating an establishment which would “contribute materially to the happiness, recreation and enjoyment of the mining community of Trecynon.
In 1989 the Coliseum was purchased by Cynon Valley Borough Council and with the aid of the Welsh Office undertook a major programme of renovation and refurbishment. The theatre re-opened on the April 11 th 1992 with a production by Keith Harris and Orville.
